In May 2009 I started to work on my Ph.D thesis in the frame of the Research Training Group 1294. I deal primarily with the functional analytic treatment of differential operators with periodic coefficients and nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
Especially local wellposedness of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a periodic potential is of interest at the moment. One way of obtaining such results is to prove so called Strichartz estimates for the solution of the linear problem. These are the essential ingredient to apply Banach's fixed point theorem.
