After studies in Technomathematik and Applied Mathematics at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, I graduated with Diploma and Master of Science. Since I was awarded the Doctorial Degree by the Department of Mathematics at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) in 2009, I headed the Research Lab for Scientific Visualization at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Research interests:

Scientific visualization and numerical data analysis are fundamental for evaluation, exploitation, validation, communication, and discussion of numerical simulations. In the face of rising challenges in implementing complex models and simulations, combined with large and distributed data sets, it is crucial to research and develop innovative evaluation and visualization concepts, for research, engineering, interdisciplinary collaboration, public communication, as well as decision taking. In the Research Lab for Scientific Visualization, we emphasize the mathematical aspects of scientific visualization and numerical exploration. This leads to efficient evaluation methods and optimized visualization infrastructure for High Performance Computing, new concepts for interdisciplinary collaboration through mobile visualization, and improved mathematical visualization methods for simulations.
