General information

A Master of Mathematics program with courses taught in English is offered beginning every year in October and in April. Students may also attend courses offered in German. The program is designed to be completed within two years.

Admission Requirements

A Bachelor degree in Mathematics corresponding to at least three years of study at a university or a qualification equivalent to it (e.g. a degree in Physics or Engineering with large mathematical content) is required; proficiency in English (TOEFL with minimum score 230) or German language (DSH or basic level III) is neccessary.

Please apply no later than June 15 for the winter semester and no later than January 15 for the summer semester.

Contact with German Students

The classes held in English are part of the regular mathematics program and are also open to German students. In particular, tutorials, seminars and lab courses offer opportunities for cooperation. Karlsruhe is a student city with lots of social events.

Financial Aspects

There is a tuition fee of EUR 1,500 per semester for non-EU students, see https://www.intl.kit.edu/istudies/9638.php

German Classes

We strongly recommend to sign up for German language classes that are offered by the Language Center.

Housing

It is not easy to find accommodations on a short notice. We recommend to get in touch with the Housing Department as soon as possible, see http://www.sw-ka.de/en/wohnen/?page=1

Schedule

Winter semester: mid October - mid February (15 weeks),
Summer semester: mid April - mid July (14 weeks).

Scholarships

KIT cannot offer stipends or scholarships. Please note that most funding agencies such as national funds and DAAD require approximately one year to process applications.

Social Events

Every year in the Fall there is a welcoming party.
