Hypergraph Containers and Random Graphs

The method of hypergraph containers is a powerful tool in extremal and probabilistic combinatorics. Introduced only recently by Saxton and Thomason and independently by Balogh, Morris, and Samotij, it has already seen many applications including solutions of several long-standing open problems.

In this talk we give a brief introduction to this method and some of its applications. Specifically we shall show how it can be used to establish extremal and Ramsey properties of random graphs.
