I work in graph theory and combinatorics. One of the main topics of my research is unavoidable structures in graphs and their partitions. I was born in Novosibirsk, Russia, where I did my undergraduate studies. After completing my Ph.D. in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, under the guidance of Zoltan Furedi, and having long-term research visits in the Mathematics Institute in Oxford, UK, and the Renyi Mathematics Institute in Budapest, Hungary, I was a professor at Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA. In 2012 I started my appointment at KIT. Since 2016 I serve as an associate editor of Order.
