After an introduction to the derivation of mathematical models in fluid mechanics, we will turn to the mathematical theory of the two fundamental models: Euler equations and Navier-Stokes equations, which describe the motions of inviscid fluids and viscous fluids respectively. Aside from the one-dimensional isentropic compressible Euler equations, we will focus on incompressible models. The existence and uniqueness of weak/strong solutions as well as the global-in-time results in dimension two will be discussed.

Prerequisites: Analysis 1-4, Functional Analysis
