Stability and Instability in Fluids and Materials
In our research we consider physically motivated problems in partial differential equations, which combine physical effects and interesting mathematical phenomena.
Two particular points of focus here are the role of mixing and resonances in fluids and microstructures in materials.
There are currently four openings for PhD students in the CRC 1173, one of which is associated to this group.
In a project on resonances in magnetic fluids, you will study the asymptotic stability of the magnetohydrodynamic equations, which combine parts of Maxwell's equations and the Navier-Stokes or Euler equations. If you have any questions, please send an email to christian.zillinger(a)kit.edu
