Institutes
The department of mathematics in Karlsruhe is made up of four institutes. The teaching and research is distributed among the institutes and cover topics: analysis, algebra and geometry, applied and numerical mathematics and stochastics. The department of mathematics hosts a broad range of courses for mathematics students and for students from other disciplines in the KIT.
The members of the institutes work together in coordinated research programmes and on joint publications. All general tasks are discussed in the department board. The institute boards consist of all professors in the institute; an elected speaker from each institute forms a member in the department board.
