Webrelaunch 2020

The research activities at the department cover many areas in mathematics and are concentrated in three focuses: partial differential equations; geometry, groups and topology; stochastic models.

In addition there are several individual projects and cooperations with members of other departments and universities. The research results are published regularly in international journals. Young academics are integrated at an early stage into active research topics. The department currently consists of approximately 70 PhD students and several PostDocs.

Many faculty members are active in scientific associations. They work as editior and referees for mathematical journals and organize workshops and conferences, also in cooperation with the well-respected Mathematical Research Institute of Oberwolfach (MFO). This results in a national and international visibility of our research.
